PRSA Greater Worcester Members Lead Media Training for Women Leaders

Cristal Steuer, APR, and Kristine Maloney, founding leaders of our chapter, will take part in the Worcester Women’s Leadership Conference to present Media Ready: High-Stakes Interview Training for Women Leaders. The hands-on session will help women leaders stay composed, clear, and confident during high-stakes media interviews, drawing on the presenters’ experience coaching presidents, executives, and spokespeople through live interviews and breaking news moments.

PR Bootcamp Pro Series (co-sponsored by Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications and Yankee Chapter PRSA) – Nov. 14, 2025

This half-day workshop is intended for communications professionals at any level. It provides an overview of various aspects of public relations, best practices in internal and external communication, crisis communication, and media relationship-building, as well as strategic thinking to drive behavior change. Participants will learn from both the instructor and fellow attendees in this interactive series.

Annual Meeting – November 6, 2025  

Crystal Haynes Copithorne, Emmy award–winning journalist and strategic communications leader, gave a talk titled, “Common Narrative: Connecting Communities and Media for PR and Brand Success,” which explored how two-way conversations in news media can build trust, catalyze action, and strengthen brand credibility. Participants also heard highlights from the past year and met the incoming 2026 board.

Meet the Media  – June 17, 2025
Participants heard from Danny McDonald (The Boston Globe), Mica Kanner-Mascolo (Worcester Business Journal), and Mark Henderson (the016.com, The Worcester Sun); takeaways included keeping the audience in mind, changing timelines and deadlines, and that relationships still matter, especially when it comes to building trust!

Lunch and Learn: Harnessing LinkedIn’s PR Power – April 3, 2025
Participants joined Tim Hally, Co-Founder of Munq and professor at Clark University as he broke down strategies for using LinkedIn to build authentic personal brands and drive meaningful industry conversations.

New Year, New You: Earn Your APR in 2025 – Jan. 23, 2025 

Participants gained insights into the value of earning the Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) credential, the process to obtain it, and the professional benefits it can bring.

The webinar was moderated by PRSA Greater Worcester Chapter’s president-elect, Cristal Steuer, APR. and included Thomasena Shaw, APR, professor of public relations at Bridgewater State University and Lisa Bergson, APR, assistant professor of communication at Bridgewater State University as panelists.

Holiday Mixer – December 3, 2025

We held our first-ever Holiday Mixer at Volturno in Worcester, an evening filled with great company, light bites, and a chance to toast to an incredible first year as an official chapter. 

Annual Meeting – November 7, 2024

Our Annual Meeting featured an overview of the past year, an introduction of the 2025 board, and more. The event was held at Venture X Worcester, our generous venue sponsor. 

Training Your Ethical Mind: Preparing to Survive and Thrive in our Dynamic AI Environment

A 90-minute workshop led by Mark McLennan, general manager of the Boston office of C+C and author of Ethical Voices: Practicing Public Relations with Integrity, which offered best practices for dealing with new ethical challenges of AI that PR professionals are likely to encounter. 

First Summer Outing/Kick Off Event – June 5, 2024
Meet the board and fellow chapter members, learn about additional programming planned for our inaugural year, enjoy dinner in the Triple Decker Garden and watch the WooSox. Held at Polar Park in Worcester.
